Tryouts & what to expect.

Tryouts are held each spring for placement on teams for the upcoming soccer year beginning in the fall season.

Who Should Attend

Any new or returning player wishing to be considered for a travel team placement. No prior Arlington Soccer experience required.

When Tryouts Are Held

U9 Travel tryouts in April. All other age groups in April and May. Specific dates posted on the club website.

Multiple Sessions

Attending more sessions allows coaches to better evaluate skills, development, and team fit. Strongly encouraged.

Weather Policy

If conditions become unsafe, sessions may be canceled or shortened. Families will be notified in advance.

Frequently asked questions.

Everything families need to know before joining the Pre-Academy program.

Selection is based on player ability, attitude, and potential — assessed through our formal spring tryout process. All positions are open to new and returning players. Coaches, age group managers, directors of coaching, and technical leadership collaborate on all placement decisions.
Pre-Academy players train 3–4 sessions per week, each 1–1.5 hours, on weekday evenings. Weekend matches are held throughout the fall and spring seasons.
Yes. Pre-Academy is explicitly designed as a feeder pathway to Regional League and ECNL. Players are eligible to attend RL tryouts and ECNL identification sessions. Coaches actively communicate player profiles to technical leadership when players are ready to advance.
Yes. Financial aid applications can be completed through Playmetrics once a travel team offer has been made. For questions contact financialaid@arlingtonsoccer.com. Need-based and merit-based assistance is available with confidential review.
Absolutely. We encourage multi-sport participation at the U10–U12 age range. Balanced athletic development produces better, more resilient players. Communicate any scheduling conflicts with your coach at the start of each season.
