ASA Referee Class

Become a Referee:

  • The Arlington Soccer Association invites everyone who wants to referee games to attend an ASA Referee class.
  • ASA Youth Referee Certification classes are held twice a year -- before the spring and fall seasons.
  • Referees must complete two 2 1/2 hour classroom sessions and a field practice in order to referee in 5 v 5 ASA games.
  • The minimum age is 13.  There is no maximum.
  • There is no cost for this course.
  • ASA referees are "center" referees and not assistant referees.

Referee Classes

Higher Pay Rates for ASA Referees: 

  • Most ASA referees start earning $14 per game under a new fee structure beginning spring 2007 for age groups U-8 and U-9 and $20 to start for age group U-10.
  • USSF-certified referees start at $16 per game under the new fee structure for U-8 and U-9. $22.00 per game for U-10.
  • New ASA referees receive a $35 uniform allowance.
  • Beginning with spring 2007, pay will increase $4.00 per game when an official referees 8 games or more during the prior fall or spring.
  • Maximum pay for ASA certified refs is $30 per game, and maximum pay for USSF refs is $34.00 per game under the new fee structure.
  • There is no requirement for annual recertification.
