Arlington-Central Asia Game, May 11, 2004

The U.S. - Central Asia Friendship Tour brought 18 soccer players, young men ages 14 - 16, to Arlington, May 7- 12.

They competed against three Arlington teams, Tuesday, May 11, at Gunston Field in a game sponsored by the Arlington Soccer Association. See photo page.

Central Asia Soccer PlayersWho are the players?
• The players are boys ages 13 – 15.
• They were selected for their athletic ability, character and leadership qualities.
• They are from small villages in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
• They are enthusiastic and intensely interested in learning while visiting the U.S.
• They speak some English but will rely on their chaperones for translation.
