Players are placed on teams in accordance with their age, not in accordance with their grade in school. For more information on the Age Brackets

A player may play up on an older team with the coach's and the club manager's consent. Players may play down on younger teams with the approval of the Arlington Soccer Association.

Reasons for playing down in age include:

• Physical impairment
• Social or developmental considerations

Each team may also have up to two other players playing down. Although, for these players, there is no need to justify playing down, these exceptions must also be approved by the ASA. This is usually used to allow players to play with their teammates.
