What's New for 2007!
 
Instruction will be directed by Gayle Wilson, a Virginia Youth Soccer (VYSA) Hall of Fame player and Head Women's coach of Marymount University.

Second grade boys & girls players will have the opportunity to play in up to 3 Saturday evening festivals with the Springfield Youth Club U8 academy program. These will take place in Arlington and Springfield in late April & early May. Details to follow.

Gayle Wilson's training staff will include Arlington Travel Soccer Club's coaches for next year's U9 and U10 teams.

The ASA skills clinic program for U6-U11 players this Fall will be held on Mondays starting April 9th from 5:30-7:30 at Bluemont Junction field. There will be eight sessions.
 
The clinics utilize licensed professional coaches who teach a regimen of skills enrichment for motivated players. The goal is to enhance skills and appreciation of soccer.
  • The program is open to all ASA registered players.
  • The clinics last spring were attended by over 150 players.
  • The cost of the program is $50. Scholarships are available for kids needing financial assistance.
The program has been developed by Andy Megas, President of Arlington Travel Soccer Club and Grant Smith - Director of Coaching.

Program Details

  • Eight Training Sessions -1 hour each
  • Age Groups
      - U7-U8 (K- 2nd graders)
      - U9-U11 (3rd-5th graders)
  • Station based training - The field is divided into stations. Players will rotate among stations. Emphasis will be placed on fundamental skills, game related enforcement of skills, and small sided play.
  • Skills progression - Instructors introduce new skills and incorporate them into a challenging and fun environment. A written summary of the curriculum will be provided to players and parents.
Program Dates & Times
  • Weekly - 8 dates - Mondays - Starts April 9, ends June 4 (no clinics Memorial Day)
  • Ages U6/U8 (K - 2nd grades) - 5:30 to 6:30
  • Ages U9 - U11 (3rd - 5th grades) - 6:30 to 7:30
  • Field Location - Bluemont Junction Field, Bluemont Park, Google Map directions.
