Arlington Soccer Rules and Discipline Information

Arlington Soccer encourages and expects players, parents, coaches, staff, volunteers and spectators to embrace our core values, treat others with respect, value our community and respect the game. The Club thrives when we work together to ensure a safe, inclusive, nurturing and fun environment in which to play the game of soccer.  In addition to our current codes of conduct, the Board of Directors has adopted an updated Rules & Disciplinary (R&D) process. ARLINGTON SOCCER

PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT

CODE OF CONDUCT

As a player in Arlington Soccer, I will respect the game, the referees, the coaches, my opponents, my teammates, the Club and our community. Soccer is a game that I play for fun, to make friends and improve my soccer skills. I agree to abide by this code and the policies and procedures of Arlington Soccer. I understand that if I engage in improper conduct, then I will be subject to the rules and disciplinary procedures of the Club.

 

Respect for the Game, Club & Community

  • I will do my best, work hard and have a positive attitude.
  • I will learn the laws of the game and play with honor and dignity.
  • I will help my parents and family understand the laws of the game, so they can watch and enjoy the game better.
  • I will not get into arguments with opposing teams, players, parents or coaches.
  • I will be properly equipped and on time for practices and games.
  • I understand that I represent the Club in matches and tournaments and will not act in any way that is detrimental to my team or the Club.

  • Personal responsibility is a critical element to the COVID-19 Return to Play Protocols and I understand that I may be required to remove my child from participation if he/she is unable to follow the safety protocols or if he/she demonstrates signs of illness.

 Respect for all Players

  • I will be a good teammate and will treat others as I would like to be treated.
  • I will be gracious and humble in both victory and defeat.
  • I will not engage in, nor encourage, any behaviors or practices that would endanger the physical, emotional or mental well-being of any player.
  • I will not use abusive, offensive or vulgar language.

Respect for the Coaches

  • I understand the time, energy and effort put forth by my coaches and will respect and support them.
  • I will abide by team rules.

Respect for the Referees

  • I will not criticize referees or dispute their calls, and I understand there is zero tolerance for those who do.

PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT

I understand that:

· I play a special role in the development of my child and his/her teammates.

· My encouragement and good example will do more to ensure good sportsmanship and self-discipline than any other influence.

· The other team is the opponent, not the enemy. Other players, coaches, parents and referees should be treated with respect.

· The top three reasons kids play sports are to: a) have fun, b) make new friends, and
c) learn new skills.

· Any parent engaging in improper conduct will be subject to the rules and disciplinary procedures of the Club. Sanctions may include removal from the facility and suspension from attending future games.

 

I agree to abide by this code and the policies and procedures of Arlington Soccer.

 

Respect for the Club & Our Community

· I will foster a soccer environment that is free of abusive, offensive and vulgar language.

· I will not use drugs, tobacco or alcohol during events and will not attend an event while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

· I will cheer at games within the spirit of fair play and do my best to cheer the effort regardless of the outcome.

· I will learn the laws of the game and support the policies of the Club.

· I will not get into arguments with opposing teams, players, parents or coaches.

· I will not act in any way that is detrimental to the team or the Club.

 Respect for all Players

· If I don’t have something positive to say, I will say nothing at all.

· I will treat players in the manner in which I want my child to be treated.

· I will place the well-being of my child before my own personal desire to win.

· I will strive to make soccer fun for my child.

· I will teach my child to be gracious and humble in both victory and defeat.

· I will encourage my child to do his/her best, work hard, have a positive attitude and abide by the Arlington Soccer Player Code of Conduct.

· I will not engage in, nor encourage, any behaviors or practices that would endanger the physical, emotional or mental well-being of any player.

Respect for the Coaches

· I recognize the time, energy and effort put forth by our coaches and will demonstrate consistent, positive support for them.

· I will not coach from the sidelines and will leave the coaching to the coaches.

· I will observe a 24-hour cooling-off period after any game or practice before I address any matter with my child’s coach and follow the Club’s resolution procedures.

Respect for the Referees

· I recognize the challenges faced by referees, particularly teenage referees, and will demonstrate positive support, allow them to officiate the game, and respect their decisions without dissent.

· I will not enter the field of play for any reason, nor will I criticize game officials or dispute any of their calls, and I understand that there is zero tolerance for those who do.


VOLUNTEER COACH CODE OF CONDUCT

 

I understand that:

· As a volunteer coach, I play a special role in the development of my players.

· My encouragement and good example will do more to ensure good sportsmanship and self-discipline than any other influence.

· The other team is the opponent, not the enemy. Other players, coaches, parents and referees should be treated with respect, regardless of race, color, religion, nationality, gender or sexual orientation.

· The top three reasons kids play sports are to: a) have fun, b) make new friends, and
c) learn new skills.

· Any coach engaging in improper conduct will be subject to the rules and disciplinary procedures of the Club. Sanctions may include removal from the facility, suspension from coaching, or separation from coaching in the Club.

· Service as a volunteer coach is a privilege and not a right, and that the Club, in its sole discretion, may remove me as a volunteer.

· I recognize the challenges faced by referees, particularly teenage referees, and will demonstrate positive support, allow them to officiate the game, and respect their decisions without dissent.

· I will not enter the field of play unless beckoned by the referee, nor will I criticize game officials or dispute any of their calls, and I understand that there is zero tolerance for those who do.

Respect for the Parents

· I recognize the time and effort put forth by parents in support of their children’s activities.

· I will communicate with parents regarding schedules and team events.
